3 dead in wreck on Airport Freeway in Haltom City

HALTOM CITY -- Three people have died and five other passengers from a cargo van have been taken to area hospitals after a one-vehicle wreck on Airport Freeway near Haltom Road.

The van's driver lost control about 4 p.m. Friday while southbound on Airport Freeway, left the roadway and hit a tree between Haltom Road and Carson Street, police said.

The southbound lanes of the service road and all but one southbound lane on Airport Freeway have been closed until further notice, said Sgt. Eric Peters, a Haltom City police spokesman.
