Alcohol suspected in wreck that claimed Fort Worth woman's life

WATAUGA - Alcohol may have been a factor in a wreck early Saturday that claimed the life of a 25-year-old Fort Worth woman.

Amanda Beasley had been northbound on State Highway 377 and was attempting to turn onto Basswood Boulevard about 2:30 a.m. Saturday when her vehicle was struck by a Ford F250 pickup traveling southbound on 377, according to Marcia Reyna, a city spokeswoman.

After the impact, the pickup traveled through a nearby McDonald's parking lot before coming to rest in a carwash parking lot just east of the McDonald's, Reyna said.

Beasley was taken to John Peter Smith Hospital where she died from her injuries the next morning at 9:58 a.m., according to the Tarrant County medical examiner's office.

The pickup driver was not injured. He was given a mandatory drug screening - results of which are still pending - and then booked into the city jail with bail set at $125,000, Reyna said.

Reyna said Monday that she did not know on what charge the man was arraigned, but suspects that it might be alcohol-related.

She said police officials did not wish to release the man's identity at this time.
