Eastbound 820 in North Richland Hills shut down by wreck
Motorists are being asked to avoid Northeast Loop 820 at Rufe Snow Drive because of a multi-vehicle collision early Wednesday that closed the eastbound lanes. A six-vehicle pile-up involving a tractor-trailer rig has backed up traffic in both directions and there is likely a delay of more than two hours for people headed east on the Loop, said Keith Bauman, North Richland Hills police spokesman.
One person has been transported by ground ambulance to a local hospital in critical condition, Bauman said. Eastbound traffic is being rerouted at U.S. 377, Denton Highway, Bauman said. And traffic is backed up on the westbound side to Precinct Line Road, possibly because of onlookers, Bauman said. Alternate routes include taking Glenview Drive or Mid Cities Drive, depending on your destination, Bauman said. "If you can stay away from this intersection it would be better for everyone involved," Bauman said. The accident occurred about 5:40 a.m. at Loop 820 and Meadow Lakes Drive, Bauman said. Police are still investigating what caused the collision, Bauman said.
