Motorcycle riders killed in Garland, Dallas accidents

Two motorcycle riders were killed in separate accidents in Garland and Dallas early Sunday morning.

The first incident was in Garland around 1:30 a.m. when, police say, a speeding motorcyclist on Interstate 30 clipped the back of a cattle trailer attached to a pickup truck.

The driver ran off the road and struck a tree near the Belt Line Road exit.

The man, who was identified as 35-year-old Judson Harvey of Garland, was pronounced dead at the scene.

About an hour later in North Dallas, a Plano man was killed and a passenger was seriously injured when his motorcycle collided with a pickup truck.

Investigators said the truck ran a red light at the intersection of Coit Road and the President George Bush Turnpike service road.

The dead man was identified as 22-year-old Pedro Patzan-Lima of Plano. A passenger on the motorcycle, 21-year-old Kelly Portocarrero of Plano, was last reported in critical condition at Baylor University Medical Center in Dallas.

Police said pickup truck driver Murrell Muck, 37, is facing intoxication manslaughter charges.
