3 Serious Arlington Crashes in 3 Hours

ARLINGTON, Texas - Arlington police and emergency workers were kept busy overnight by three separate unrelated wrecks, two of which had fatal consequences.

The first happened around 10:30 p.m. Wednesday when police say a man in his 30s was speeding down Eden Road near Kennedale.

Police say the man, who was alone in his car, lost control in the 4700 block just west of Highway 287. He died at the scene, but the medical examiner has not yet released his name.

Almost 3 hours later, accident investigators were called to another fatal accident on I-30 near Center Street.

A black pickup truck had been rear-ended by a hit-and-run driver, and a passenger in the pickup was ejected and killed.

Witnesses say describe the other vehicle that fled as a white truck, possibly a Nissan. Anyone with information is asked to call the Arlington Police Department at 817-459-5635.

Shortly after police were notified of the I-30 accident, a third accident happened on I-20.

At 1:45 a.m., police say a woman in her 20s drove the wrong way on the freeway and sideswiped an oncoming 18-wheeler near Green Oaks Boulevard.

The woman was trapped in her SUV for several minutes before emergency workers could cut her free. Both she and the truck driver were taken to John Peter Smith Hospital and are expected to survive their injuries.

The westbound lanes of I-20 remained closed until 6:45 a.m. while police investigated the accident.

Officers say the woman initially told them she had her baby in the vehicle with her, but the child later turned out to be with his father.

Police say alcohol is most likely a factor in this accident and the woman could face charges.
