A&M student killed in car accident

A Texas A&M student died Friday after his vehicle skid into oncoming traffic along F.M. 1774 in Grimes County, the Department of Public Safety reported.

According to a trooper's report, the accident happened at 4:21 p.m. Friday eight miles south of Plantersville.

A truck traveling south on F.M. 1774 entered a side skid, the trooper wrote, and crossed into northbound traffic.

A vehicle traveling north noticed the other vehicle entering traffic and left the roadway to the right to avoid a collision.

The southbound vehicle continued to skid and collided with the northbound vehicle.

The driver of the southbound vehicle was pronounced dead at the scene at 5 p.m. The driver of the other vehicle was uninjured.

The deceased's next of kin had not been notified by Friday night so the names of those involved were withheld.

The body of the deceased was taken to the Travis County Medical Examiner in Austin.
