Car Accident | 3-year-old boy, three others injured in Dallas crash

Posted on Mar 22, 2011

A 3-year-old boy is listed in critical condition after a two-vehicle crash in west Dallas Monday afternoon.

The crash happened in the 3000 block of Harry Hines Boulevard at about 1:20 p.m. when a small four-door vehicle driving south on Harry Hines turned in front of a 2007 Lexus also driving south, which caused the Lexus to hit the four-door's rear-end and then spin across the northbound lanes, according to a Dallas Police Department news release.

The Lexus jumped a curb, causing a 3-year-old boy and a 28-year-old woman in the backseat to be thrown out of the vehicle into a grassy area, the release states.

An off-duty Dallas police officer saw the wreck and immediately gave CPR to the 3-year-old boy, the release states.

The child was taken to Children's Hospital where he is in critical condition, Dallas police said.

The 28-year-old woman and two other occupants in the vehicle were taken to Parkland Hospital in conditions ranging from stable to serious, the release states.

A child safety seat was found in the backseat but police are investigating whether the child was not fastened into the seat properly or not seated at all, the release states.

No charges are expected to be filed against the driver of the Lexus but it's not known whether there will be any charges filed against the driver of the four-door vehicle, Dallas police spokesman Kevin Janse said.
