Car Accident | Glaring reflection blamed for 50-car pileup

ARLINGTON, Texas - A glaring sunset reflecting off rain-slick pavement was blamed by some motorists as dozens of vehicles slammed into each other on Interstate 20 at Park Springs Boulevard.

Arlington police and rescue crews were busy cleaning up a 50-car accident just moments after severe storms blew through early Tuesday evening in the Dallas-Fort Worth area.

As a result of the accident, part of westbound Interstate 20 at Park Springs Boulevard was closed.

Sgt. Os Flores, a police spokesman, says none of the injuries involved were life-threatening, but the wreckage forced the closing of the freeway's westbound lanes during the latter part of the commute. The lanes reopened at about 9:30 p.m.
