A wrong-way wreck on State Highway 121 in Grapevine left two people seriously injured and the highway shut down briefly Sunday night.
The driver of a Toyota sedan was driving south in the southbound lane of the 4000 block of Highway 121 at about 11:06 p.m. when it was struck by a Chevrolet sport utility vehicle driving north in the southbound lane, according to a news release from the Grapevine Police Department.
The driver of the Toyota, a 61-year-old Plano woman, was taken by Careflite to Parkland Hospital in Dallas and the driver of the Chevrolet, a 29-year-old Denton man, was taken by Careflite to Harris Methodist Hospital in Fort Worth, police said.
As of Sunday night, the Toyota's driver was listed in critical condition, while the driver of the Chevrolet was in stable condition, the release stated.
The driver of the Chevrolet was arrested on a preliminary charge of intoxication assault.
The highway was shut down for a short time so Careflite could pick up the injured drivers, Grapevine police spokesman Todd Dearing said.
The crash is still under investigation, police said.
