Child hit by car, hospitalized

AMARILLO, TEXAS -- Amarillo Police are investigating an incident that sent a four-year-old child to the hospital.

Police were called to an apartment complex at 2003 Hardy at 6:40 p.m. Sunday on reports of a car versus pedestrian accident. Officers said they were told Cruz Rodriguez ran between two parked cars and then in front of a 1997 Plymouth which hit the child.

Rodriguez was taken to a local hospital with life threatening injuries.

Police reported the child's condition did improve overnight, his injuries are not considered life-threatening but he is still in the hospital.
