Horse Accident | Horse, rider killed in intersection accident by pickup truck

A rider and his horse were killed in Texas on Friday night when allegedly struck by a pickup truck being driven on the wrong side of the road.

The victim has been named as Fernando Giron, 40, of Grand Prairie.

The alleged driver, Salvador Herrera-Robles, 33, a Mexican citizen, has been charged with intoxication, manslaughter and failure to stop to offer help to the victim.

Two passengers allegedly in the truck have yet to be found.

Police in Grand Prairie said Giron was crossing the intersection at Beltline Rd and East Oakdale Rd on his horse around 9.30pm when they were struck by the truck.

Investigators believe the truck was on the wrong side of the road and speed was a factor, according to reports.
