Keller motorcyclist dies in collision with vehicle driven by suspected drunk driver

A Keller motorcyclist was killed early Tuesday in far north Tarrant County when his vehicle collided with a Jeep that was driven by a suspected drunk driver, authorities said.

Jason Wakeford, 30, died at John Peter Smith Hospital in Fort Worth shortly after the accident.

Authorities arrested Cristan Jerri Melancon, 18, of Keller, at the scene on suspicion of intoxication manslaughter. She remained in the Tarrant County Jail.

The wreck was reported about 12:30 a.m. Tuesday at Wall Price Road and Concho Circle near Keller.

Wakeford was westbound on Wall Price Road and collided with Melancon's Jeep which had just got onto Wall Price Road, said Terry Grisham, a spokesman with the Tarrant County Sheriff's Department.

According to sheriff department reports, Melancon was not injured nor was an 18-year-old female passenger in the Jeep.
