FORT WORTH - A Trinity Railway Express train struck and killed a man sitting on the tracks in north Fort Worth Friday morning.
An unidentified man in his early 40s was sitting on the tracks near Baurline Street at about 9:17 a.m. when he was struck by a TRE train, Fort Worth police spokesman Daniel Segura said.
The man died at the scene, Segura said.
About 60 passengers were on the train at the time and no injuries have been reported, Segura said.
The train originally departed from Union Station in Dallas around 8:30 a.m. and was headed west to the Intermodal Transportation Center in downtown Fort Worth from the Richland Hills Station when it struck the man, Hunter said.
The track was cleared at about 11:00 a.m. and passengers were bused to their destinations, TRE spokeswoman Joan Hunter said.
After the incident, other TRE passengers bypassed the area of the tracks by using bus bridges provided by The T, Hunter said.
The TRE and the Federal Railroad Administration will conduct an investigation into the incident, Hunter said.
