TOMBALL, Texas, May 9 (UPI) -- A Texas man sexually assaulted his 4-year-old girlfriend's daughter and infected her with herpes, authorities charge.
Erik Medrano, 23, of Magnolia, was arrested May 4 and charged with super-aggravated sexual assault of a child, Tomball, Texas, police told KHOU-TV, Houston.
The victim complained of pain to her grandmother, who reported the assault to police, court papers state.
The girl told investigators Medrano attacked her in a "small room by a pool," which turned out to be a unit at a Super 8 motel, police said.
Police said Medrano admitted to spending time with the victim and her sister at the motel but denied touching them. He also claimed not to have herpes, but tested positive for the virus, police said.
Medrano was being held Monday on $100,000 bond and could get 25 years to life in prison if convicted.
