SUV slams into DSW shoe store in Hurst

A motorist and customers escaped serious injuries Thursday afternoon when a sports utility vehicle smashed through the entrance of a Hurst shoe store, Hurst police said.

The driver, described as an elderly female, was momentarily trapped in her Toyota Highlander by the debris, but firefighters soon managed to get her out.

The accident occurred shortly before 12:30 p.m. at the DSW Shoe Warehouse in the 900 block of Northeast Loop 820 in Hurst.

The SUV went through the entrance of the store, stopping just short of a cashier counter.
