FRISCO, Texas - An 18-year-old North Texan who was found in Oklahoma one day after disappearing from Frisco told police she was kidnapped at gunpoint and sexually assaulted.
Investigators are releasing few details in the case but it's clear that the teen, who FOX 4 News is not identifying because of the assault allegations, was last seen on Friday night leaving the Dr Pepper Arena at which she is employed.
A half-hour later, investigators said, someone called 911 from her cell phone but said nothing.
At about 10 p.m. Saturday, the teen drove to a Braum's restaurant in Muskogee, Okla., telling staffers she had been kidnapped the night before but was able to escape, police said.
According to investigators, the teen told police an unknown armed man had been waiting by her car at the stadium and forced her to get inside.
"If this is as horrific as it sounds, you know, she's very fortunate to get away," Muskogee Police Cpl. Pedro Zardeneta said. "She's obviously safe now, so that's one thing that I'm sure she's relieved of, you know. And we're going to do what we can to assist Frisco Police Department in anything we can do to help them get this investigation moved along further."
The young woman was hospitalized and appeared to have bruising on her face, police said. She also appeared to be emotionally shaken, they said.
On Monday, the teen posted this message on her Facebook page: "I'm home and I'm safe. thank you all so much for your love and support and efforts. right now, i need to be alone with my family, i'm sure you will all understand."
The teen's father did want to answer questions about his daughter's apparent ordeal but said he was grateful to the community for its effort to locate her.
The assailant is described as being a black male in his 20s with a medium build, about 5 feet 8 inches tall, wearing dark jeans and a black hooded pull over. He also had a well-groomed goatee, the teen said.
The investigation is ongoing.
Frisco is located about 30 miles north of Dallas.
