(CBS 11 News) ARLINGTON An Arlington family is mourning after their toddler was found dead in an apartment pool.

According to investigators, a couple of children were the first to find the little boy Sunday.

It happened just after 9:30 a.m. at the Castle Pines Apartments on Woodland Boulevard.

Witnesses say two-year-old Josiah Myles wandered into the pool area. He was able to get in through a gate that residents say had been broken all summer long.

"You know how when kids play, they just float on top of the water? He did the same thing," said Alexis Perez. "I didn't really think it was a baby. I thought it was a baby doll."

The two kids who found him said they tried to save his life.

One of them pulled him from the pool. The other called 911.

"I went over there to check if it was a baby, and it was," said Luke Kindred. "A lady came up and said, 'Please get my baby out of the pool.' I said I would, and she gave me a little light push."

City employees inspected the pool, and they said they'll ticket management for the broken gate.
