VENUS - Four children and one adult went to the hospital Wednesday afternoon after a recreational vehicle rear-ended a school bus, according to authorities.

None of the injuries were thought to be life-threatening, said Robert Matthews, Venus school district superintendent. There were some cuts and bruises, and one little girl was believed to have a broken leg, Matthews said.

The school bus was carrying about 45 children ranging in age from elementary school to high school students, said James Robinson, an officer with the Venus Police Department.

Both vehicles were northbound on FM 157 traveling near County Road 506 northwest of Venus about 3:50 p.m., when the recreation vehicle slammed into the rear of a school bus that appeared to be stopped, Robinson said.

Texas Department of Public Safety troopers were investigating the collision Wednesday.
