Woman sexually assaulted on trail in Keller

A 20-year-old woman was sexually assaulted Monday night while walking on a trail near the Keller Smithfield Activity Node, Keller police said Wednesday.

No one has been arrested.

Keller police have increased bike and foot patrols in the area. Authorities ask residents who use the trail to run or walk in pairs after dark.

The attack occurred between 8:30 p.m. and 9 p.m. Monday at the trail just west of the Keller Smithfield Node in the 400 block of Keller Smithfield Road in Keller.

A man approached the woman from behind, subdued her and sexually assaulted her, Keller police said Wednesday.

The witness described her attacker as a white man in his late 40s, about 5-foot-10 to 5-foot-11, with a large belly, short gray hair and balding on the forehead area. He had a small amount of facial hair located from the bottom of his lip to his chin.

The man was wearing light-colored sweat pants, tennis shoes, white T-shirt with no logos and a black or blue jacket.

He was unarmed, police said.
