Wrongful Death | Authorities ID worker killed by cement truck on Texas 288

A construction worker who was crushed to death by a cement truck along the South Freeway on Friday afternoon has been identified as Manuel Seja, 47.

Seja was in front of the truck under the freeway at North McGregor Way about 4 p.m., when it "jumped out of gear" and struck him, Houston Police Department spokeswoman Jodi Silva said.

Two coworkers alongside him suffered severe, but non-life threatening injuries and were transported to Ben Taub General Hospital, Silva said. No further information was available on their conditions.

Police are not expected to file any charges in the accident, although the department's vehicular crimes division and truck enforcement unit are investigating it, Silva said.
