Sexual Abuse and Assault
The personal injury lawyers at Noteboom, located between Dallas and Fort Worth, have been suing sexual abusers in Texas for nearly 30 years.
One of the first sexual abuse cases handled by our lawyers involved a psychiatrist who abused his position with his patient by having an affair with her. Our lawyers were also among the first to sue a church for the improper sexual conduct of its clergy. For example, Noteboom teamed with Austin lawyer Bill Whitehurst in the early 1980's to sue a Catholic church and its priest, who offered marriage counseling to his parishioners in Arlington, Texas. While the priest was supposed to be counseling, he had sex with the parishioner. The priest then gave the Sacrament of Confession so his victim would not confess adultery to another priest.
Since that time, the lawyers at Noteboom have become the "go to" attorneys for victims of sexual abuse, rape, and other forms of sexual assault. Here are some examples of sexual assault and abuse cases handled by Noteboom's lawyers in courts throughout Texas:

Since that time, the lawyers at Noteboom have become the "go to" attorneys for victims of sexual abuse, rape, and other forms of sexual assault. Here are some examples of sexual assault and abuse cases handled by Noteboom's lawyers in courts throughout Texas:
- Our lawyers sued a psychologist--and obtained a settlement for the limits of the psychologist's insurance policy--after the psychologist made sexual advances to his patient (a registered nurse) and caused disruption to her marriage.
- The personal injury lawyers at Noteboom reached a large confidential settlement from a Fortune 500 corporation after one of its managers in a small east-Texas town preyed on two minor boys employed by the corporation. Our lawyers sued in federal court, arguing that the corporation should never have hired the manager. The case was vigorously defended by one of the country's largest labor and employment law firms. Just days before trial, the corporation agreed to a settlement large enough to pay the boys' attorneys fees, pay all the expenses for their lawsuit, and provide the boys a cash settlement in excess of $650,000. The abuser was given a 30-year prison sentence.
- Our lawyers successfully sued on behalf of a secretary who was fired after her boss, the president of a company, had an affair with her. Following extensive litigation, the company made a settlement offer large enough to give the secretary more than $100,000. The president resigned his position.
- Noteboom's lawyers represented a child who had been sexually abused by her uncle. The uncle was charged with the crime and paid the child a substantial portion of his assets. Our lawyers then sued the child's psychologist who knew about the sexual abuse but failed to report it. Both the psychologist and the hospital paid a settlement that gave the child more than $100,000.
- Our lawyers obtained more than $1,000,000 for our client in a sexual abuse lawsuit against an adoption agency. The agency knew about the biological parents' problems with drug abuse and their prior diagnosis for psychiatric illness but failed to disclose this information.
- Noteboom's lawyers sued an apartment complex after its janitor raped a young woman on the premises. This case is ongoing.
- Our law firm forced the owner of a coin-operated car wash to pay a six-figure settlement to a young woman who was sexually assaulted on the car wash premises.
- Our lawyers successfully sued a retail store after one of its employees in the store's location at Northeast Mall in Hurst, Texas made unwelcome sexual advances against an underage co-worker. The case was defended by the 400-lawyer firm of Bracewell & Guiliani, who argued that the victims should be dismissed because they were subject to an arbitration agreement. This agreement required the victim to arbitrate her case in Indiana. Noteboom's lawyers said "no way," and the Texas Supreme Court agreed. The store settled for an undisclosed amount and a Tarrant County District Court entered a judgment against the rapist for more than $2,000,000. The rapist is now a registered sex offender and is serving a ten-year term of probation.
